Dibba Al-Hisn Club Hosts Traditional Games Championship

Sharjah24: The Traditional Games Championship, organised by Dibba Al-Hisn Club, kicked off yesterday with the participation of eight sports clubs: Khorfakkan Club, Al Dhaid Club, Al Batayeh Club, Mleiha Club, Al Madam Club, Kalba Club, Al Hamriyah Club, and the host, Dibba Al-Hisn Club. This championship aims to promote Emirati cultural heritage and encourage the younger generation to engage in traditional games.
The event was attended by Dr. Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Sharjah Sports Council, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mutawa, Chairman of Dibba Al-Hisn Sports Cultural Club, Mohammed Abdullah Rashid Al-Hammoudi, Chairman of Dibba Al-Hisn Football Club, along with members of the Sharjah Sports Council, club board members, prominent guests, and dignitaries from Dibba Al-Hisn.

The competition featured a variety of traditional games that were integral to the lives of the ancestors, such as rope pulling, cairam, al-ambar, alrinj, traditional cultural quiz, and yola.

Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mutawa emphasised that the event aims to create an enjoyable and friendly competitive atmosphere among participants while reviving traditional heritage, instilling national identity, and introducing the youth to the games of the past. He highlighted that this event is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen social bonds among the emirate's residents and ensure the preservation and sustainability of this heritage for future generations.

He also expressed his gratitude to all the participating clubs and esteemed attendees for their contribution to the success of this event.

The winners were honoured with prizes, participation certificates, and colourful medals. Al Madam Club secured first place, Dibba Al-Hisn Club came in second, Mleiha Club third, and Al Hamriyah Club shared the third place, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and high sportsmanship among all participants.
