Sharjah 24: The Arab Chess Federation, headed by Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Humaid Al Qasimi, has approved the championship calendar for the 2024 season.
The Competitions Committee approved the Arab Individual Chess Championship for ages 8 to 20 in Sousse, Tunisia; the Arab Club Champions Team Chess Championship 2024 in Salalah, Oman; and the Arab Individual Chess Championship for men and women, as well as the Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in Sharjah, UAE.

Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi emphasised that the host countries were selected after rigorous reviews by the Technical and Competitions Committees, taking into account all the factors required for holding Arab championships.

Additionally, the International Chess Federation has accredited the Lebanese Chess Federation's International Arab Referees Training and Qualification Course (Federal Referee), which will take place on Friday in cooperation with the Arab Chess Federation.

Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi commended the UAE and its leadership, notably the Sharjah government, for providing the required facilities and resources. This comprises an official headquarters, championship funding, and support for Arab federations.

These efforts aim to promote chess, attract more players, particularly children and youth, and train a new generation capable of regional and worldwide success.
