Sharjah24: Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, President of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club and President of the Arab Chess Federation, confirmed that being elected as Vice-President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) by the General Assembly of FIDE, shows appreciation for Sharjah and the UAE.
Sheikh Saud stressed that being elected to VP was due to the UAE’s reputation along with Sharjah’s reputation, the home of the biggest chess club in the world.

Sheikh Saud dedicated the winning of the new position to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; the Rulers of the Emirates; and to all athletes in the UAE.

He explained, during an exclusive interview with "Sharjah 24", that there was tough competition in the elections between the candidates, in which he won the majority of the votes.
