2nd Sharjah Sports Padel Championship kicks off

Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council, the second edition of Sharjah Sports Padel Championship kicks off, on Monday, and will continue until June 30 at the WPA Sharjah stadiums.
450 players from 26 countries are participating in the tournament, divided into 3 categories: the unclassified national category, the Gulf foreign category, and the international category. All players compete for prizes worth up to 200 thousand dirhams. The champion of the unclassified national category will receive 12,500 dirhams, while the first place holder in the Gulf foreign category will receive 40,000 dirhams, the champion team in the international category will receive 50,000 dirhams. The organisers also allocated prizes to the attending audience worth up to 100,000 dirhams.

The start of the tournament will be marked by the preliminary rounds for the citizens category, which saw a large turnout of amateur players who expressed a great desire to participate and improve their level. It is an opportunity to discover new talents that will benefit the national team and professional teams.

Sharjah Sports Channel announced that it had prepared extended media coverage, with a total of 60-hour live broadcast.

On this occasion, Muhammad Majid Al Suwaidi, Director of Sharjah Sports Channel, confirmed that the Padel Championship in its second edition will receive great media and public attention, stressing that Sharjah Sports Channel has harnessed great capabilities and recruited its employees to produce the tournament in the manner that befits it, especially since it is being held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council.

Al Suwaidi added that following the great success achieved by the tournament in its first edition, in 2023, Sharjah Sports Chanel seeks to make the second edition more distinguished in all technical and organisational aspects and public attendance. 

Sharjah Sports Padel Championship expresses the commitment of Sharjah Broadcast Authority (SBA) to support and develop sports in society, and to promote a healthy lifestyle among all age groups. 

Al Suwaidi stressed that he is confident that the tournament will be successful and distinguished, and will achieve its goals in spreading and promoting the sport of padel. Muhammad Majid Al Suwaidi concluded by extending his sincere thanks to all partners in success and to everyone who contributed to the organisation.
