Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) will host the "Stop Violence" forum tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Sheraton Hotel and Resort in Sharjah. The forum's slogan will be "Rehabilitating children to confront and overcome the psychological effects," and it will bring together numerous organisations dedicated to safeguarding children and families, such as the "Kanf" Foundation in Sharjah, the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, and participants from Arab nations.
The purpose of this year's forum, according to Dr Jassim Al Hammadi, Director of the Knowledge Department at SSSD, is to help children cope with the psychological impacts of natural disasters, find solutions that work, and compare notes on what has worked in the past.
According to Al-Hammadi, the psychological impacts on children exposed to violence were a deciding factor in selecting the forum's motto.
The forum aims to promote and consolidate the concept of child protection on a social and institutional level, as well as to increase cooperation among mental health professionals, educators, and community leaders in order to better assist children, bring attention to the long-term effects of psychological trauma on children, and encourage the implementation of interventions and policies that will last.
