Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Director of Knowledge Management at the Department, stated that the goal of this year’s forum is to prepare children to confront and overcome the psychological effects; develop strategies to effectively deal with the psychological needs of children affected by natural disasters; share best practices and evidence-based interventions to restore mental health and build resilience; strengthen cooperation between concerned professionals in the field of mental health, educators, and community leaders to provide comprehensive support for children, raise awareness about the long-term effects of psychological trauma on children, and call for the implementation of sustainable interventions and policies. This is in addition to the main goal of the “Enough Violence” forum, which is to promote and consolidate the concept of protecting children socially and institutionally.
Al Hammadi said that the forum’s slogan was chosen because of the psychological effects on children who have been exposed to violence, which it is necessary to confront the shock resulting from their exposure to violence, such as family disputes between father and mother, which affects them. He added that specialists role is to find appropriate solutions for such cases.
Al Hammadi confirmed that it has become clear through the department’s data, cases, and annual reports, that there are demands to address and resolve the psychological effects resulting from violations of children’s rights, as well as an increase in the files of psychological treatment for children. There is also guidance from government agencies to support psychological treatment.
Al Hammadi stated that the participation of institutions is very important as they provide specialised services in the field of child protection and care, and therefore the community must know about them and resort to them at the appropriate time, as well as to benefit from their experiences and expertise and services they provide.
Al Hammadi concluded that the forum will be a single panel discussion that includes several topics that will be addressed by the participants, including representatives of agencies and institutions concerned with child protection.
The invitation is open to everyone.
