According to Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Department, the initiative coincides with the arrival of the summer season and the resulting rise in temperatures. It falls under the category of community volunteer initiatives, overseen by the Sharjah Volunteer Centre.
“We have invited our partners from government departments, as well as institutions and companies from both the public and private sectors, to take part in this initiative by preparing boxes containing various items that help ease the burden of the summer heat, which will then be distributed to workers until the end of the season,” Al Hammadi said.
She added that the boxes include cold drinks, water, or ice creams, in addition to helmets and hats to shield workers from the sun, safety gear, hygiene products, and other protective items used during the summer.
