Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of Police Science Academy, along with deans, invitees, and students, graced the opening ceremony.
Dr. Awad Al-Khalaf highlighted the UAE's commitment to embracing technological advancements, particularly evidenced by the launch of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. He emphasised the university's recognition of global challenges and its efforts to support emerging partnerships in artificial intelligence and metaverse technology through various educational initiatives.
Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi stressed the importance of collaboration between the Police Sciences Academy and Al Qasimia University in utilising modern technologies to enhance security efforts and adapt to contemporary developments, especially in sustainable development.
Dr. Atta Hassan Abdulrahim, Director of the Centre for Continuing Education and Development emphasised the significant role of artificial intelligence and metaverse technologies in achieving sustainability and emphasised the forum's importance in discussing opportunities and challenges in training and education.
The subsequent sessions, led by thirteen specialised researchers, delved into various aspects of artificial intelligence and metaverse technologies in training, covering topics such as innovation, training output metrics, intellectual property, medical applications, crime prevention, and educational and research advancements.
In the second session of the Second International Training Forum, a varied group of speakers and experts covered several pertinent topics. These included training security personnel in immersive virtual environments, employing artificial intelligence in surgical procedures, focusing on remote medical techniques, robotics, and virtual reality. Other discussions centered on utilising artificial intelligence in advertising and establishing ethical standards for its use in media. Additionally, there was a discourse on incorporating augmented reality in police training for criminal investigations.
During the final session, the forum proposed enhancing collaboration between institutions and strengthening strategic partnerships based on an institutional framework to advance shared interests. It advocated for expanding the use of artificial intelligence and metaverse tools to create more engaging training experiences and to attract highly skilled individuals in the field. Furthermore, the recommendations emphasised the importance of bolstering cybersecurity and digital security in alignment with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, underscoring the need for cooperation among official departments in Sharjah to enhance capabilities and achieve sustainable development goals.
