Al Hamriyah to combat harmful pests following heavy rains

Sharjah24: The Al Hamriyah Municipality initiated a series of campaigns focused on public health to combat pests and insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and rodents that carry diseases, following heavy rains and exceptional weather conditions that occurred in the area. The campaigns were implemented by specialists in the public health pest control department of the municipality, in order to carry out integrated health pest control operations, classify samples, test the effectiveness of pesticides and vaccines used for prevention purposes, and implement programs to survey and monitor public health pests in the region.
The Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, confirmed that the teams will work to launch educational and awareness-raising measures as part of the municipality’s strategy to maintain a clean, safe, and sustainable environment in the region. The teams will also spray gardens, public facilities, homes, residential neighborhoods, and commercial buildings with approved pesticides that are safe for individuals and the environment, and recommended according to the type of insects and the extent of their spread. 

Al Shamsi highlighted that the municipality has made intensive efforts to limit the proliferation of pests that are harmful to health and has developed control methods that are in line with the health policy of the Emirate of Sharjah and its requirements in the areas of environment, health, and public safety. The municipality has also carried out inspection and preventive campaigns for sites of mosquitoes and other insects, in addition to combating insects and reptiles in various areas and sites in Hamriyah. 

During the implementation of the campaign, the Al Hamriyah Municipality used spraying devices and modern technologies that covered high places, roofs of buildings, cooling vents, and places that are humid and rich environments for the proliferation of insects, to combat pests more effectively and preserve the environment for a longer period of time.
