SCI organise Iftar for senior citizens

mSharjah24: The Sharjah Charity International, on Friday, collaborated with the Sharjah Social Services Department to hold a group Iftar for senior citizens residing in an elderly care home. The event was aimed at celebrating Zayed Humanitarian Day and spreading happiness among the elderly while promoting community cohesion. The initiative was taken to express gratitude towards the elderly who have spent their lives serving their country by returning kindness to them.
To honour the noble principles of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, several dignitaries attended the Iftar, including Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Member of the Association's Board of Directors, Abdullah Saif bin Hindi, Head of the Corporate Services Sector, Mohammed bin Nassar, Director of the Corporate Communications and Marketing Department, Khaled Al Qassab, Director of the Fundraising Department, and Maryam Al Shamsi, Acting Director of the Volunteering and Community Service Office.

Al Suwaidi said that the initiative coincided with Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, and they celebrated it by giving back to society. They wanted to recognize the efforts of senior citizens who had dedicated their lives to serving society. Through this initiative, they paid tribute and expressed their gratitude towards them. They also highlighted the importance of community participation programs in providing full support to the elderly and how they worked together with the Department of Social Services to achieve that.

The residents were delighted with the initiative, and the group breakfast included some recreational activities such as public competitions and purposeful games that created an atmosphere of joy and happiness among the residents. They also distributed Eid clothing to those who expressed their admiration for them, which made them happy and warmed their hearts.
