Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Junior Team (B) was crowned champion of the third Hamad Abu Shabs Handball Championship, at the end the Ramadan championship bearing the name of the late former manager of Sharjah Handball, which was organised by the Sharjah Sports Club over four days, 23, 24, 30 and 31 last March. It was hosted by outdoor stadiums and the gymnasium in the Semnan area
The event witnessed the participation of 4 clubs with a total of 6 teams from the junior and senior categories, where the Sharjah Club participated with three teams, namely Sharjah (A), (B) and (C), in addition to Shabab Al Ahli Club Dubai, Ittihad Kalba Club, and Al Madam Club.

The teams were divided into groups, and their matches were held in a single-round league system, and the organisation of the event was supervised by the team of group sports management, including administrators, coaches, and assistance services.

Following the end of the event activities, Jassim Mohammed, member of the Group Sports Department and Supervisor of Handball, Yousef Ahmed, Supervisor of the Age Stages, and Ali Al Marzouqi, Director of the Sharjah Men’s Handball Team, in the presence of Mayed Abu Shabs, brother of the late Hamad Abu Shabs, crowned the winning teams and players.

The individual award recipients in the event were also honoured, as were the event referees, Captain Ahmed Abdelkafi and Captain Mohamed Wael, and the two emerging referees, the Sharjah Handball Club Cubs players, Hamad Abbas and Khalifa Juma.

The second place of the cup and silver medals were won by the Al Madam Club team, and the Sharjah (C) team came in third place and the bronze medals.

In the individual titles category, player Abdulaziz Khaled from the Sharjah (B) team won the best player award in the event, and Mohammed Ali Al Kaabi from the Al Madam team won the best goalkeeper award in the event, while the title of top scorer in the competition went to the Sharjah (B) player Khaled Mohammed Ali Rahma.

Malek Mohammed from Ittihad Kalba also won the award for best right winger, Zakaria Issa from Shabab Al Ahli, best left winger, player Omar Hamid from Al Madam team, best playmaker, and Mohammed Abdelrahman from Sharjah (B) best circle player.

The Best Rising Player Award was given to Ahmed Abdelrahman from Sharjah (A), Abdullah Saqr Obaid from Shabab Al Ahli, and Youssef Abdel Hamid and Omar Ali from the Sharjah (B) team.

It is noteworthy that the organisation of the third edition of this event, the first edition of which came in 2021, comes in memory of Hamad Abu Shabs and in fulfillment of his previous administrative contribution to handball at the Sharjah Club, and for what he introduced to the game during his career at the club, as the late was a member of the Sharjah Club. He was one of the administrators with high moral character, and enjoyed great love within the Sharjah and Emirati handball family.

The event also aims to exchange age-level players, experiences and contact, and prepare them technically and physically through competition between different categories, as all the age-level teams of the Sharjah Handball Club won the league shield for the 2023-2024 sports season and are preparing to compete in the cup competition.
