The study has shown that the University of Sharjah stands out for adopting a comprehensive institutional approach to sustainable development by integrating sustainability principles into all aspects of the University's work, including academic education, sustainable scientific research serving society, campus management, and community engagement.
In addition, the report highlights factors that distinguish the University of Sharjah as an exemplary model in sustainability, including its rapid growth since its establishment in 1997, significant advancements in global rankings for academic education, research, sustainability, and international accreditation. The University’s strategic plan named SPIRIT focuses on integrating sustainability throughout the institution. The sustainability efforts of the UoS are coordinated through its Sustainability Office, which utilizes sustainability circles to identify, analyze, and propose initiatives and solutions to sustainability issues on campus.
The University of Sharjah is recognized as a pioneer in sustainability initiatives, advancing to obtain global rankings in applying sustainability standards, reflecting its advanced and sustainable infrastructure. In addition, it is committed to integrating sustainability into its mission, strategic plan, operations, and educational programs.
