Sharjah24: At a brainstorming workshop organised by the Building Permits Department at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah, titled "Modern Cladding Materials and Consultants' Qualification,” the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey (SDTPS) recognised six winners of the "Best Architectural Design" award in two categories: engineering consultant offices based in the Emirate of Sharjah and students and alumni of architectural engineering schools at the University of Sharjah.
The "Shakl" Office for Engineering Research and Consultations received the "Best Architectural Design" award in the residential buildings category for the design of the "Diwani Villa," while the "Asoul" Office for Engineering Consultations won for the design of the "Al Siouh Villa."

The "Smart Vision" Office for Engineering Consultations won in the commercial buildings and other facilities category for their design of the "Khadijah bint Khwailid Mosque." Students Shaimaa Saif Al Ketbi, Shaimaa Rashid Al Ketbi, and Alia Hashem Al Awadhi from the University of Sharjah's Faculty of Architecture were also recognised for their designs for the Sarkuu Cultural Centre.

Engineer Hamidi Al-Ketbi, Director of the Building Permits Department at the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey, stated that the award is part of the department's efforts to encourage engineering consultancy offices to improve architectural design and use the most recent standards and specifications in proposed and implemented designs in the Emirate of Sharjah.

This also attempts to inspire engineers and architects to address environmental issues by adhering to the norms and standards of sustainable design.

Al Ketbi explained that the brainstorming workshop featured open discussions between experts from consultancy offices and guests from specialised engineering professionals in architectural designs and constructions in the Emirate of Sharjah about the best sustainable materials for cladding buildings, as well as training consultancy offices and contracting companies on how to use them. There was also a discussion of the many sorts of current cladding materials utilised in various local and international projects.
