Sharjah 24: The Khorfakkan Municipality, with its various departments, has completed its annual preparations to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. This is done by taking all necessary measures and procedures, and developing an integrated plan to ensure safety in this holy month.
The municipality’s Public Health Department has completed its preparations to welcome this blessed month, by intensifying inspection campaigns to monitor markets, commercial stores, and institutions working in the field of distributing and selling foodstuffs to ensure its commitment to implementing health requirements and preserving food in proper ways, in order to preserve the safety of consumers.
Moreover, the department’s inspectors carry out inspection campaigns on markets, restaurants, popular kitchens, supermarkets, and all institutions that deal in the production and distribution of food, to ensure their compliance with health conditions, and to apply the necessary standards in display and storage throughout the day, until midnight, in addition to taking random food samples to the laboratory for examination.
Professional license shops, such as men’s and women’s barbershops, laundry and ironing shops, are also under the eye of the department, in addition to supervision and control over the vegetable and fruit market shops, and the fish market. To implement this, the department has developed a comprehensive plan to strengthen the control of these licenses in order to ensure the health and safety of the public, and to ensure that the markets are free of harmful and unfit for human consumption foodstaff.
The department further intensifies inspection visits to beauty centers and men's barbershops, to ensure their compliance with the requirements for health stores to provide a healthy and appropriate environment inside these places.
Thereby, the Municipal Operations and Inspection Department completed its preparations by intensifying inspection tours of markets and operating sales outlets in the city of Khorfakkan, preventing street vendors, and distributing inspection teams throughout the city.
The competent authorities in the municipality also installed 377 light models in the main streets and roundabouts, to form an aesthetic and decorative value for the city, which is a leading tourist destination. The municipality’s agriculture department prepared all public parks so that they would be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
As for the fish market’s working hours in this holy month, it will be throughout the week: from 8 am to 11 pm, and from 4 pm to 12 pm. As for Friday, the market opens from 8 am to 11 pm, and 4 pm to 12 pm.
The working hours of the fruit and vegetable market will be throughout the week, including Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
