Sharjah 24: The activities of the first Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Forum kicked off Friday evening in the heritage village in Dibba Al Hisn. The opening ceremony and activities were attended by Abdul Malik Jani, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, members of the Sharjah Sports Council, members of the Consultative Council and Municipal Council in Dibba Al Hisn, and a number of heads and directors of government departments and bodies in the city.
Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Motawa, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Events, expressed, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Mohammed Abdullah Rashid Al-Tarban Al-Hamoudi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, feelings of pride in this forum, the slogan of which was chosen to be sports as a way of life, through which we aim to develop healthy life and intellectual activities, and spread the spirit of fair competition and sportsmanship among all members of society in our city, in order to achieve quality of life and translate into reality the aspirations of the wise leadership.
He concluded his speech: In this forum, participation was not limited to the players and members of the Board of Directors. Rather, we loved the participation of all the people of the city with us, as the forum came to meet, exchange ideas, and seek sports and cultural rapprochement between the Board of Directors, the public, and the players.
The activities held in the heritage village on the first day included Al-Haraka Baraka operetta, and a heritage performance by Al Wishahat Al Harbia Band.
The winners of the Families Sports Award and winners of the running races were honoured. The forum concludes on Sunday, March 3, with new activities and events.
