Sharjah hosts Sports for All Festival 2024

February 26, 2024 / 7:45 PM
Sharjah is preparing to host the Sports for All Festival for Gulf countries in 2024, with the theme "Sports amidst the beauty of nature." The event, which runs from February 28th to March 1st, will have notable Gulf participation. It comprises a variety of sports such as football, basketball, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, and other activities for both genders aged 18 to 40.
The festival is organized by the organizing committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, with a key partnership from the General Authority of Sports and the UAE Sports for All Federation. It is sponsored by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah Sports Council, Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.

There will be several cultural and entertainment activities during the festival that pay homage to the history and traditions of the Gulf. Desert and mountain excursions, art exhibitions, entertainment shows, and traditional folk-art performances are all part of these festivities. On top of that, a sports day is planned. Al Noor Island in Sharjah will host the festival's official launch, and events will be spread out over the city, including visits to Jabal Al Rabee in Khorfakkan and a sightseeing trip in the heart of Sharjah as part of the Sharjah Heritage Days celebration. People from all walks of life may come out and cheer on the athletes competing at the festival.

Several vital messages are carried by this contest, according to Saeed Al Ajil, head of the festival's organising committee. Aside from enhancing ties between the Gulf states, it seeks to shift focus to environmental issues and ensure that they receive the attention and care they deserve because of the good impact they have on human existence. With a proliferation of internet social contacts, health pandemics, and modern technology, he said, the environment has taken place in the background in today's fast-paced society.

According to Al Ajil, this year's event is particularly significant because it is being held in the eco-conscious emirate of Sharjah, which is well-known for its emphasis on environmental causes. He emphasised that athletes would get a close look at Sharjah's famous sites, making for an unforgettable adventure that combines sustainability with fun and reflects the city's enthralling beauty.

In addition to a number of other planned competitions and events throughout the country, the Union has now announced the organisation of this festival. April will host the first national popular championship, and in Dubai, we will start the first sustainable sports activity. We will also organise sports programming throughout the holy month of Ramadan. To celebrate Emirati heritage sports, this event is one of four major events that take place at the same time as World Heritage Day.
