Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) are on a mission to brighten up the streets and neighborhoods, putting their energy into enhancing the lighting infrastructure. In 2023, they proudly completed the installation of 5,426 brand-new streetlights, casting a glow over 15 different areas, including the districts and industrial zones of Sharjah. Picture Al Ruqaiba, Al Khan, and the industrial areas bustling with new light. The illuminated streets now include Al Qarain, Al Shanuf, Al Sweihat Street, Al Juwaiza, Khorfakkan Street, Al Siouh district, Al Rahmania, Hoshi, Al Quoz, Al Hamriyah, Al Nouf, the Free Zone, and Maliha area.
This initiative isn't just about lights; it's about making the roads safer and elevating the quality of life for the residents. Engineer Ahmed Al Bass, Deputy Director of the Electricity Distribution Department, shared that in 2023, they didn't just stop at installing lights. They rolled up their sleeves and maintained a whopping 46,490 streetlights, stretching their efforts to extend 147 kilometres of road lighting cables.
Al Bass stressed the authority’s dedication to executing lighting projects throughout Sharjah, ensuring they align with the highest standards suitable for each area. These lighting initiatives are crucial, enhancing visual appeal, and ensuring the safety and security of the surroundings.
