The agreement was signed by Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Chairperson of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), and Abdullah Abdul Rahman Mohammed Obaid Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, on behalf of the authority’s chairman.
The agreement comes within the framework of the vision of the wise leadership in the emirate to support citizens with limited income to confront inflation and the high cost of living in the emirate, and to raise the standard of living for the individual and provide services consistent with the highest quality standards, and in implementation of Sharjah Executive Council Resolution No. (12) of 2023 regarding social support for electricity, water and gas consumption in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Based on the agreement, the SSSD calculates the actual monthly consumption of the beneficiaries and grants a monthly support of 400 dirhams to each beneficiary who meets the conditions and controls for eligibility for social support. As stipulated in the terms of the agreement, the authority will not cut off electricity in homes that contain an elderly or disabled person who lives on electrical appliances, such as breathing or feeding, as part of the “"Let's Connect Them" initiative.
