The events of the 13th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival continue, which started on February 7th and will run until February 18th. The emirate of Sharjah has been adorned with artistic displays on its various landmarks.
The selection of illuminated sites in the 13th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival reflects the diversity and richness of Sharjah in terms of history, present, future, and culture. Through artistic light displays, the festival sheds light on tourist landmarks and architectural structures that narrate stories about the cultural heritage of the emirate, bridging the past, present, and future.
More than 15 international artists from 8 foreign countries participated in the festival, presenting light art installations that illuminate 12 tourist, cultural, and entertainment landmarks in the emirate. The displays included animated light shows, featuring prominent cultural and natural landmarks in the emirate. This year, three new sites were added: Sharjah Police General Headquarters, Souq Al Hamriyah, and Kalba Waterfront. Other sites include Khalid Lagoon, Al Majaz Waterfront, Bee'ah Headquarters, Al Hisn Fort, Sharjah Mosque, Sheikh Rashid Al Qasimi Mosque, Noor Mosque, Rafisa Dam, as well as the "Light Village" that started at the beginning of February in front of the University City Hall in Sharjah.
The latest visual arts techniques are used to present artistic displays that tell the story of the emirate and its vision through 3D models, projection mapping, moving sculptures, and other light installations.
The Sharjah Light Festival 2024 included series of workshops and photography tours in collaboration with the "FotoUAE" photography platform, aiming to enrich the experience of photography enthusiasts and meet their diverse interests at all levels, providing them with an opportunity to document the essence and message of the festival.
