Sharjah 24: Louay Saeed Allay, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, revealed the participation of about 30 countries in the activities of the Khorfakkan Para Athletics International Meeting in its first edition, which is scheduled to be held during the period from February 8 to 9, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The Supreme Organising Committee of the Khorfakkan Para Athletics International Meeting held a press conference, Monday, in the old market in Khorfakkan, during which it announced the details of the event, which is organised by the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled and will begin on February 8 for two days.
The conference proceedings were witnessed by His Excellency Dr. Abdulrazzaq Ahmed Bani Rashid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, and a number of officials, and representatives of the club’s sponsors and strategic partners.
Bani Rasheed extended his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for His Highness’s unlimited support and directives for the development of parasports in the Emirate, and His Highness’s keenness for Sharjah to be a place for humanitarian and development initiatives, and international sporting activities and events due to its advanced infrastructure and sports facilities.
For his part, Louay Saeed Allay, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, revealed that about 350 participants are partaking in the event, including more than 200 male and female players representing 30 countries from around the world. They compete in about 425 competitions.
He added in statements to “Sharjah 24” that event will witness participation of 131 coaches, administrators, and arbitration crews, which amount to 54 accredited referees, pointing out that the UAE participates with the largest number of players, numbering 60 players from 6 different clubs in the country.
