Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) provided assistance over the past year amounting to 17.8 million dirhams from the Zakat account in the framework of supporting 11,291 cases of people with limited income, as well as the elderly, divorcees and widows who do not benefit from government aid, in a way that guarantees them a decent life.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director, confirmed that the SCI relies on the zakat of benefactors and their charitable contributions to support deserving families.
The SCI includes among its records a large number of cases of widows, orphans, needy families, and divorcees who have no income to guarantee them a decent life.
The SCI provides these cases with assistance on a regular monthly basis, including enabling them to provide their necessary needs for a decent living, and this type of assistance is disbursed based on the need of the case, which is determined by the Aid Committee.
He added that monthly assistance was provided to eligible cases registered in the SCI’s records at its main headquarters and all its subsidiary departments in Al Madam, Al Dhaid, Kalba, Khorfakkan and Dibba Al Hisn, and the month of January came with the highest percentage of monthly expenses at a value of 1.7 million dirhams, followed by the month of February with a value of 1.694 million dirhams.
