Egyptian director Mahmoud Grazi explained that “Les Misérables” used the technique of combining the theatricalization of objects and puppets in addition to the human element with the aim of highlighting the human aspects, noting that the play won the best show at the Monastir International Festival in Tunisia, and the Cairo International Forum for University Theatre.
Grazi added, in statements to “Sharjah 24” that what encouraged him to apply for the festival was the artistic quality standard of the performances selected to participate in the 14th edition of the Arab Theatre Festival, expressing his happiness at representing the Egyptian theatre in Baghdad.
The “Les Misérables” by the Egyptian Ain Shams University Theatre team participates in the first track of the festival, which does not compete in the Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi competition for the best Arab theatrical performance.
The festival continues until Thursday, January 18, in Baghdad.
