Iraqi Minister of Higher Education receives ATI delegation

Sharjah 24: Dr. Ali Al Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Republic of Iraq, received Ismail Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Arab Theatre Institute (ATI), and his accompanying delegation.
Dr. Jabbar Judy, Head of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, attended the meeting. 

The meeting came within the framework of preparations for Iraq to host the fourteenth Arab Theatre Festival, from January 10 to 18, 2024, and organised by ATI in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Cinema and Theatre Department and the Iraqi Artists Syndicate.

His Excellency Dr. Al Aboudi welcomed the important step of hosting this important Arab cultural event, stressing Iraq’s keenness to play an Arab cultural role befitting its history and role in the Arab culture industry, stressing his ministry’s keenness to contribute effectively to the success of the festival.

His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education also praised His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his great role in developing Arab culture, studies and research.

The Secretary General of ATI expressed his appreciation for the great role played by the Ministry in promoting scientific research and academic aspects, especially in the faculties of arts and applied arts, stressing that the ATI is keen to cooperate and work with the Ministry in this event and in many aspects during the festival, through a group of programmes. 

Ismail Abdullah added that ATI will provide a complete copy of the Institute publications to the libraries of the Faculty of Arts, and since this festival is the largest in the Arab world, ATI will organise special meetings for the major Arab playwrights participating in the festival with the students of the Faculty of Arts. 

Dr. Jabbar Judi, Head of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, thanked Minister Al Aboudi for this positive spirit that complements the joint Iraqi efforts in this major event.

It is worth noting that the delegation of the Arab Theater Institute held many working meetings with the partner parties concerned with the festival, as well as with a number of committees working to organise the festival.
