Sharjah 24: On the fourth night of the seventeenth edition of the Emirates Festival for Children's Theatre, the Sharjah National Theatre showcased the play "The Amiable Ghost," authored by Ahmed Al-Majid and directed by Hamad Abdulrazzaq.
The production conveyed several crucial messages and themes, including the stress on acknowledging and respecting others, their ideas, and perspectives, even in the face of differing viewpoints. It underscored coexistence as an unavoidable necessity for harmonious living in a world where everyone can cohabitate peacefully. Additionally, the presentation underscored the significance of treating those in our surroundings with esteem and regard, especially the elderly, and highlighted the importance of embracing a culture of apology and applying it when appropriate.
This performance distinguished itself through the nimbleness of the actors' performances and the use of proper, articulate Arabic language. The director adeptly guided the team by blending the aesthetic aspects of movement with the intellectual nuances of the script. The scenography facilitated the actors' movements, offering them spacious areas, while the lighting seamlessly incorporated modern technology, enhancing the overall scene. The music played a pivotal role in propelling the narrative forward, and the set design, featuring movable pieces manipulated by the ghost, contributed to creating symbols that reinforced the presentation's core idea and effectively communicated its message to the audience.
The dance ensemble, embodying various characters throughout the performance, enabled the director to create dramatic visuals that resonated with the children in the audience.
