More than 5,000 students participate in 'Childhood-Thon 5'

Sharjah 24: With the participation of more than 5,000 male and female students from Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain schools, along with their fellow students with disabilities from Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), the SCHS's Early Intervention Centre organised, on Thursday, the distinguished activity “Childhood-Thon 5.”
The event witnessed many sports competitions that included disability simulations with the aim of inclusion and awareness, and developing fruitful partnerships between the SCHS and various community institutions in accordance with international best practices.

Her Excellency Mona Abdulkarim Al Yafei, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), stressed the importance of “Childhood-Thon” in integrating people with disabilities, educating society about their rights and issues, accepting differences, providing support when needed, and dealing with them with respect and appreciation.

She praised the great response from schools and their students to Childhood-Thon, the influential participation of the guest of honour, the Egyptian tennis player Anwar Elkamony, and the participation of a number of players from the Sharjah Football Team and the Sharjah Sports Council, as this participation contributed to urging more students to turn out and join Childhood-Thon with its competitions and events.

She honoured with Mohamed Fawzi, Director of the Early Intervention Centre, the sponsors, partners and supporters, Her Excellency expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to the main sponsor of Childhood-Thon 5, "White Point” company.
