The Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties (SCLD) has announced the launch of a national awareness campaign about learning difficulties.
This campaign is directed at various government and semi-government institutions across all the Emirates. Running until November 2023, the campaign's primary objectives are to increase awareness and promote scientific understanding of learning difficulties.

It also aims to shine a spotlight on the valuable services offered by the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties, as well as its key programmes and initiatives designed to support individuals with learning challenges and their families, facilitating their integration into society.

The campaign encompasses a range of innovative events and programmes, notably the organisation of the Third Learning Difficulties Forum in collaboration with the Sharjah Education Academy on October 25. Additionally, the campaign involves the distribution of informative materials and awareness-raising videos through the centre's social media platforms and media outlets. Furthermore, the campaign includes conducting educational workshops for parents and families on important issues related to learning difficulties.

Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), underscored the UAE's pioneering efforts in supporting individuals with learning difficulties, ensuring their rights, and providing top-tier education and care. The launch of the National Awareness Campaign on Learning Difficulties reflects the centre's dedication to supporting the country's initiatives in this field and its commitment to achieving its strategic goals.

Sheikha Jamila emphasised the pivotal role of families and society in supporting individuals with learning difficulties. This underscores the campaign's significance in creating a supportive community environment for them. The campaign aims to achieve this through educational initiatives and awareness-building events, shedding light on best global practices for supporting and empowering individuals with learning difficulties. It also seeks to disseminate scientific knowledge about learning difficulties. These efforts contribute to strengthening the capacity to comprehensively assess and diagnose individuals with learning difficulties and provide them with appropriate educational, social, and psychological training and counseling.

Since its establishment in 2016, the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties has been delivering services to individuals with learning challenges of all ages and nationalities. Over the years, it has served approximately 1,000 individuals, with a consistent focus on developing and enhancing collaborations with local, Arab, and international centres to achieve the best possible outcomes.
