Sharjah24: Aisha Abdullah Al Shehi, a dedicated teacher at the Early Intervention Centre in Sharjah, revealed the commencement of the annual "Childhood Thon" event on Thursday at Al Noor Island in Sharjah. The Early Intervention Centre (EIC), affiliated with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), hosted an event that united nearly 30 schools from across Sharjah, attracting around 4,000 children of diverse ages and backgrounds.

Creating a welcoming environment to bridge differences

Aisha Al Shehi stated that the event seeks to foster integration between children with disabilities and their peers within a welcoming environment. The activity highlights the importance of participation rather than competition, ensuring that there are no winners or losers. To raise awareness and foster understanding, the event introduces "obstacles" for non-disabled children, simulating the challenges faced by their peers with disabilities.

Bringing together education and sports to empower children

The event is aimed at the whole educational community, including kindergartens, primary schools, nurseries, teachers, and administrative personnel.

This year's event featured the involvement of the Sharjah Sports Council, where players from Sharjah Football Club engaged with children by signing jerseys. This gesture offered substantial support, enhancing the experience for the children and fostering increased engagement with the event.
