Sharjah24: With the valued presence of His Excellency Dr. Khaled bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, the 5th Alef International Chess Festival was inaugurated by Dr. Hesham Al Gendy, President of the Egyptian Chess Federation. A large number of people attended the event, with a strong presence from the audience.

This tournament holds great importance in Alef International Chess Olympiad, known for bringing together a multitude of chess players from the Arab world and the Middle East.

The event is being organised by Alef Group, a prominent real estate development and retail company in the Al Mamsha area of Sharjah, in collaboration with the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, with the participation of over 1000 players from 25 different countries.

The opening of the round was attended by His Excellency Turki Matar, President of the UAE Chess Federation and Mr. Amer Al Ali, Head of Tournament officials, along with a large crowd of media representatives and enthusiasts.

Dr. Hesham Al Gendy expressed his pleasure to be part of this worldwide chess event, which brings together players from around the globe, showcasing a diverse range of skills and potential.

He highlighted the ongoing achievements of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club in attracting and organising chess events that have garnered significant attendance.
