Sharjah24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Thursday, in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, between the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).

The MoU was signed by Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and Park Min, the President of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).

The memorandum reflects the mutual desire of both parties to enhance their professional ties in the field of media and technology. It also highlights the importance of fostering friendly relations and productive collaboration between media institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE and South Korea, in accordance with their mutual interests.

The two parties are working together to enhance their collaboration in various areas, including improving relations in television and radio broadcasting systems, adopting new digital media equipment and technologies, and utilising the latest broadcasting technologies such as Ultra-High Definition (UHD) and 4K broadcasting standards and specifications.

In addition, the collaboration extends to media coverage and reporting on a wide range of events, as well as the exchange of cultural, artistic, sports, and other news-related programmes.

The Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) serves as the official media platform for radio and television in South Korea, dating back to 1927, with the establishment of Kyeongseong Radio. It has an essential role in supporting the Korean media.

KBS takes pride in its extensive network of radio stations, satellite channels, and innovative media platforms. It manages a variety of regional media stations in South Korea and has representative offices globally. Additionally, it has representative offices located all over the world and runs a number of different regional media stations in South Korea.


Alongside Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the signing of the memorandum of understanding was attended by prominent figures, including Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams); Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri; Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council, and Rashid Abdullah Al Aoubad, Director of Sharjah Media City “Shams”.
