Conditions for nomination are subject to a number of criteria, whereas the award is granted exclusively for the entire work, activities and achievements of the theatre group during the year 2023. Applications for nomination for the award open from December 1st, 2023 to January 1st, 2024.
The Theatrical Association also stipulated that the works, activities, participations, and awards listed in the nomination form shall be exclusively in the field of theatre, and documented by certificates or published news.
Upon closing the nomination period, the Association will form a committee of local and residing theatrical experts in the UAE, to select the theatrical troupe that has been most accomplished and present in the theatrical movement during 2023, and the winning troupe will be honoured with a commemorative shield and a financial reward, in a special ceremony held for this purpose.
Ismail Abdullah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Theatrical Association, stated that after the pause that affected the theatrical scene, in the world, due to the Corona pandemic, the Theatrical Association Award for the Outstanding Theatrical Group stopped, and this year, the Award is re-launched, in harmony with the visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and in implementation of His Highness’s permanent and supportive directives for the important presence of the Emirati theatre at the Gulf, Arab and international levels”.
He added that the award was created to encourage the groups by celebrating their achievements, honouring and motivating the outstanding ones to be more creative and successful.
It is worth noting that the award was launched in 2017, and the Sharjah National Theatre troupe won the first session, Ras Al Khaimah National Theatre troupe won the following session in 2018, and in 2019, the Sharjah National Theatre troupe won it again.
