Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Press Club (SPC), affiliated with the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, organised Thursday morning, a meeting that brought together media representatives with officials of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD).
The meeting, which is part of the “Tawasul” initiative,  was attended by Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Afaf Al Marri, Head of the Social Services Department; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Alia Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Ahmed Al Mail, Director of the Social Services Department, and Asma Al Juwaied, Director of the Sharjah Press Club.

The meeting aimed to enhance positive rapprochement and exchange of viewpoints between various media outlets and government agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The meeting also came within the framework of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau’s comprehensive vision to expand areas of positive rapprochement between government agencies in Sharjah and various media outlets in the country in order to open direct communication channels between them that allow for the exchange of constructive viewpoints that benefit the vision of comprehensive sustainability in the emirate, and simultaneously provide the opportunity for the media to understand the current and future trends of the emirate through specialised agencies, to ensure the transmission of information in a more accurate and transparent manner.

Building on this, the “Tawasul Initiative” came to pave the way for media entities with the Social Services Department to discuss the needs of modern journalistic work in light of the development of digital media and reliance on addressing the public on social media. The meeting reviewed the statistics and achievements of the Social Services Department, and opened the field to answer the inquiries of media representatives and provide them with all the required data.

Afaf Al Marri confirmed that the Social Services Department is clearly working to develop communication skills with the media and enhance the speed of official channels in providing information. The Department is also seeking to establish a generation of highly competent official spokespersons on behalf of the Department.

She pointed out that the Social Services Department works with a clear strategy based on preserving family ties so that all members of society can enjoy social well-being and a decent life by meeting their needs through the various services that the Department provides to beneficiaries in cooperation with all relevant agencies and institutions.

Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, highlighted the importance of the role of the “Tawasul” initiative launched by the Sharjah Press Club in 2018 in strengthening media relations between media outlets and the institutions and departments of the Emirate of Sharjah by opening communication channels and allowing journalists to ask their questions directly to officials of various government agencies in the emirate.

It is worth noting that the Sharjah Press Club has, over the past years, held several meetings that produced fruitful results and recommendations.
