Sharjah 24: Children from across the Arab world began arriving in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the fourth session of the fourth term of the Arab Parliament for the Child (APC), which is being held from July 13 to 18. The wide participation reflects the Arab states' commitment to supporting children's issues and empowering future generations.

54 members representing different Arab countries

The first delegation to arrive was from Djibouti, followed by Mauritania's delegation. The remaining Arab delegations, comprising 54 members representing various Arab countries, then arrived, along with the delegation from the United Arab Emirates (the host country).

Nurturing environment allowing opinion expression

The UAE's airports saw a warm and exceptional welcome for APC members and their accompanying delegations. All necessary administrative and logistical arrangements and facilities were in place to ensure a distinguished stay for the children in Sharjah, providing a nurturing environment that allows them to express their opinions and exchange experiences and cultures.

On this occasion, Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of APC, welcomed the Arab children to their second home, the United Arab Emirates, and specifically to the Emirate of Sharjah, a haven for childhood and a constant advocate for supporting programmes and initiatives that empower young people and develop their dialogue skills.

Preparing a promising generation capable of practicing parliamentary work

Al Barout stressed that the convening of this session comes as a culmination of tireless efforts sponsored by the League of Arab States and hosted by the Emirate of Sharjah with the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah with the aim of preparing a promising generation capable of practicing parliamentary work and consolidating the values of dialogue, tolerance, coexistence and building the future, noting that the programme of the fourth session will include rich discussions, specialised workshops and field visits that contribute to building the character of Arab children and give them a free platform to express their aspirations and visions for the future of their societies.
