Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre picked up the honorary doctorate from the Armenian National Academy of Sciences as the ‘Award story’ for the month of October due to its historic standing, prestige and importance. The honorary doctorate by the Armenian Academy had been awarded to only 60 figures around the world at the time.
The apex body of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences had unanimously resolved to confer the honorary doctorate on His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in recognition of his lifelong commitment and relentless efforts in spreading culture, scientific research and temperament not only in the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates but also across the region and around the world.
Speaking during the award ceremony held at the Armenian Academy headquarters, the Ruler of Sharjah sincerely thanked his hosts and Armenia for recognising his lifelong efforts in the field of education and scientific research. On this occasion, he outlined his mission and various stages of developing educational infrastructure in Sharjah, especially the higher education sector, starting with the establishment of the American University of Sharjah and various colleges of the University of Sharjah in cooperation with various international universities and specialised academic institutions.
During his visit to Armenia, the Sharjah Ruler was also presented with a gold medal by Yerevan State University, the highest honour conferred by the prestigious university founded in 1919, acknowledging his remarkable efforts in the fields of education, science, arts and culture.
