Sharjah 24: The Sharjah-based Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre as part of its ‘Award Story’ initiative is celebrating this month the prestigious Rashid Award for Academic Excellence that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received 34 years ago.
His Highness the Sharjah Ruler received the Award in November 1989, instituted by the Culture and Science Symposium, UAE, from the late Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAE. The Sharjah Ruler received the Award in recognition of his contribution to scientific excellence in the Emirate and the UAE and coinciding with his earning a Ph.D. in history.
The "Award Story" project seeks to shed light, on a monthly basis, on one of the most distinguished awards and pieces from the personal collection of the Ruler of Sharjah.
The Rashid Award is a prestigious honour and a celebration of the intellectual and moral standing of the distinguished recipient. The Sharjah Ruler, globally acclaimed for his celebration and patronage of knowledge and scientific temperament, has repeatedly stressed that science is the basis for progress, sophistication, and the advancement of societies.
