Sharjah 24: "Aman Ya Beladi", a programme prepared and presented by the Department of Media and Public Relations of the Sharjah Police General Command, and broadcast live on Sharjah Radio, every Monday morning, discussed a number of security issues. The episode was entitled “Electronic Fraud and its Risks,” and was presented by Captain Manaa Al Naqbi and First Lieutenant Saud Busaim.
The programme’s guest, Colonel Dr. Muhammad Butti Al Hajri, Deputy Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at Sharjah Police, discussed over the phone the security aiming to raise awareness among community members of cyber fraud crimes and its dangers.
In his speech, Colonel Dr. Muhammad Butti Al Hajri touched on the “Be Aware” awareness campaign launched by the Department in cooperation with the Criminal Investigations Department, aiming to enhance direct communication with all members of society through presence in vital places in Sharjah, pointing to the activities included in the campaign, such as the open media day for Arab, foreign and Asian media, in addition to broadcasting informational messages to community members via "cinema screens", in cooperation with “Fox Cinema”.
The guest of the studio, Lieutenant Nouf Al Harmoudi from the Criminal Investigations Department, also reviewed the methods used in electronic fraud crimes, methods of preventing them, and the efforts made by the Criminal Investigations Department to confront them.
Studio guests Zahraa Aboudi, Head of the Operational Security Department at the e-Government Department; and Hassan Al Balgouni, Head of Corporate Communications at Sharjah Islamic Bank, added that there are multiple methods used by fraudsters in cybercrimes to deceive victims through electronic means, such as impersonating well-known institutions, like banks and others, to obtain personal information.
