Sharjah 24: The Friends for Diabetes unveiled its annual awareness programme, "The Superhero," on Thursday morning.
This initiative is a collaborative effort with the Emirates Schools Establishment and the Sharjah Private Education Authority, with a focus on engaging 60 schools across the Emirate and its affiliated cities in the Eastern and Central regions, encompassing both private and government schools. The programme is expected to benefit over 10,000 students.
Eman Turki, the head of the Programmes Section within the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, shared during an exclusive interview with "Sharjah 24" the core goals of the programme.
These objectives encompass boosting awareness about diabetes, providing assistance to schoolchildren dealing with diabetes, and fostering an educational setting that promotes their seamless integration with their peers while ensuring a healthy environment. Furthermore, the programme aims to encourage harmonious coexistence and preventive measures against diabetes for individuals at risk.
Furthermore, Turki pointed out that the programme will feature a variety of competitions and educational activities scheduled throughout the academic year, all aimed at spreading awareness about diabetes.
