Sharjah24: Since the beginning of the academic year, the Social Education Department in the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) have launched several school awareness campaigns. They have introduced a new approach this year where social awareness specialists no longer provide educational consultations in classrooms. Instead, the department decided to offer consultations during the morning assembly to benefit all students, not just a select few.
Mariam Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Social Education Department at the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) explains this direction as beneficial for everyone. She states that at the beginning of each academic year, they receive requests from schools interested in receiving consultations and awareness regarding specific topics or national and official occasions. Previously, social awareness specialists would move from one classroom to another, and the benefit did not reach all students. Therefore, this year, they decided to provide consultations, especially those related to raising awareness among students during the morning assembly to benefit all students, not just those in classes with 20 students, as the number of students in the morning assembly ranges from 700 to 1000 students. Therefore, she urges social educators to visit schools in the morning before their classes start and provide informative and awareness-raising information during the morning assembly.
Al-Qaseer mentioned that the number of educational programmes provided by the department in the current year 2023 reached 3628, benefiting 100,932 individuals. These programmes were distributed across Sharjah, its affiliated regions, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman.
Under the category of educational services, they offer general awareness services, preventive educational services for individuals, institutions, and partners, as well as specialised training services for employees. The Social Awareness Department also prioritises protection and prevention programmes for families and children, aiming to enhance and build community awareness about protecting against dangerous situations and threats.
