Sharjah24: Ismael Abdullah, the General Secretary of the Arab Theatre Institute, has officially declared that the coordination committee for the Arab Youth Scientific Theatre Research Competition has successfully organised the submissions for the eighth edition of this competition. The research in question delves into the intellectual and artistic achievements of Arab women in the theatre realm, encompassing roles as writers, producers, designers, authors, directors, and actresses.
Abdullah went on to elaborate that this edition has cultivated a distinctive atmosphere, resulting in a total of twenty-nine research papers being submitted. Each one of these papers seeks to showcase the unique attributes that have defined the creative journeys of women who have bravely confronted exclusion, marginalisation, and oppression, ultimately leaving a profound impact.
This strategic direction is aimed at enriching research and encouraging scholars to focus on areas that should not remain in obscurity. Consequently, the eighth edition of this competition holds particular significance for the Arab Theatre Institute since 2012, the Year of Arab Women in Theatre.
Ismael Abdullah stressed that the dynamic atmosphere fostered by the Arab Theatre Institute in this edition has provided a solid foundation for the participation of twenty-nine competitors this year. It is a source of pride that seventeen of these research submissions were authored by young Arab female researchers, further reinforcing the authenticity of the objectives of this edition. These young researchers have demonstrated a remarkable openness to the experiences of creative women in the theatre.
Furthermore, an Arab committee is set to commence the evaluation process, with initial results slated to be disclosed in mid-November 2023, ultimately leading to the selection of the top three positions.
