Sharjah 24: Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work congratulated children on their return to school and their readiness to start the new academic year 2023-2024, wishing them continued success in their academic achievement journey.
Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work invites, school administrations, families and parents, to motivate and support children to practice volunteer work so that they grow up with these good values that hone their skills to lead volunteer work in the future.
Sustainable volunteering for children
Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, said that the "Award" affirms its continuous contributions to social responsibility that focus on bringing about positive change in society. She added that the Award seeks to enhance its integration with public and private schools as well as with families to instill volunteer values in children, community service and patriotism, noting that extracurricular activities, including volunteer work, enhance children’s self-confidence and hone their personal skills compared to their non-volunteer colleagues.
Honouring 42 public and private schools
Fatima Musa praised the importance of volunteer work and its role in refining the child's personality, social formation and cognitive qualification. She noted that the "Award" provides children with a series of child-related programmes, the most prominent of which is the "Sustainable Volunteering Competition" that targets all child entities and schools at the UAE level, where 42 public and private schools were honoured, in recognition of their efforts in sustainable volunteering.
Furthermore, 11 students from the volunteer school students "Volunteer Knights" and 83 university students were honoured.
10 training workshops for children
The “Award” implemented about 10 training workshops for children from 6 to 12 years old, held in separate locations. In the Sharjah Children’s Centres in Al Heera, Al Qarayen and Victoria English School, in coordination with Sharjah Sports Council, as well as in Sharjah Centre for Voluntary Work for the benefit of children volunteers at the Hassad Volunteer Camp, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Ajman, and Sharjah Girls’ Sanctuaries.
In addition to conduct a number of different activities such as awareness and educational programmes, educational publications and anecdotal publications, these programmes would greatly contribute to educating students and occupying their spare time with useful things.
In addition to the "Best Summer Volunteer Opportunity" competition offered by institutions for student volunteers, in order to promote the values of volunteering and youth participation in community service during the summer vacation period.
Al Balushi confirmed; The complementary efforts between the "Award" and its institutional partners and their institutional cooperation enhance volunteer work in a way that embodies the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah and its pioneering approach towards voluntary giving.
