Sharjah 24: The participants of “Your Summer With Us” activities, organised by Sharjah Youth affiliated to the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, acquired the skill of reading engineering drawings and converting them into architectural models according to best practices.
The youngsters learn these skills in the architectural maquettes programme, which represents one of the important stations in the “Skills Lab 2023”, with the aim of enhancing the skills of the participants and enabling them to convert two-dimensional designs into three-dimensional models accurately and professionally.
The idea of the programme is based on training the participants on the basics and techniques of making architectural maquettes from wood chips and acrylic using computer and laser technologies. In addition to providing them with the skills required for the engineering and architectural field, most notably, reading and understanding engineering drawings, ground plans and projects, along with design skills to create attractive work that appropriately mimic the design of the original project.
The young participants in the programme excelled in making 11 innovative models of various buildings and facilities, with attractive designs, in addition to embodying the general location surrounding the building and highlighting the smallest details.
