Sultan bin Ahmed crowns winners of Sharjah Padel Tennis Champ.

Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, honoured Sunday evening, the winners of the first place for the three categories in the first edition of the Sharjah Padel Tennis Championship, which was held at the WPA Courts in Sharjah's Al Rahmaniya Suburb in Sharjah.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed honoured the winners of the championship in its three categories, where the first place in the category of citizens was won by Mohammed Juma Al Muhairi and Essa Khalifa Al Shaibani, while the first place award for the category of citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries was won by Fahd Bahbahani and Abdulaziz Al Ma’youf from Kuwait, and the Emirati duo Abdullah Al Abdullah and the Spanish Xavi Rodriguez from the professional category.

During the honouring ceremony, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed also honoured the teams that won second place in the tournament in its various categories, in addition to the sponsors and partners in organising the tournament.

The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah had earlier watched the final match of the tournament, which was organised by the Sharjah Sports Channel in cooperation with the "WBA" center for the professional category.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed was also briefed on the various facilities of the "WPA" centre. 

The five-day tournament witnessed an exciting competition among 230 participants, divided into 3 categories (nationals - citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries - professionals). The tournament saw wide participation from various countries of the world, including the UAE, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait, while a number of professional players from the countries of Spain, Brazil and Portugal participated.

The contestants competed for a total prize pool of AED 165,000, plus AED 65,000 allocated to the tournament's audience in the entertainment parts.

Attending the honouring ceremony alongside the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, were Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Department; Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, President of the United Arab Emirates Padel Association; Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police General Command; Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; a number of directors of government institutions and agencies, representatives of sponsoring companies, and a large crowd of enthusiasts and lovers of padel tennis.
