Sharjah Police organised the award in cooperation with the Academy of Police Sciences. Several ranking officers and federal and local officials, and local and international experts attended the ceremony.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid and Major General Al Shamsi inaugurated the project "Coding Penal and Correctional Institutions… from Traditional to Virtual" using a smart system. The project is based on several implicit projects that will continue until 2040, Including smart design of prisons and infrastructure, rehabilitation of inmates using artificial intelligence techniques, reformulation of motives and behavioral models, innovative laboratories for inmates using metaverse technologies, virtual prisons, and Neurotherapy.
Al Shamsi, stated that Sharjah Police has been keen to observe and analyze new reality and the changes that require security institutions to respond to it through scientific strategies and studied methodologies, preparing for the future by exploring its prospects and dealing consciously with its challenges; hence, the launch of the “Future Readiness” award came to contribute to developing a futuristic vision based on the fundamental scientific research, in which students, researchers, and academics participate.
He pointed out that the vast participation of researchers, in the first edition of the award, in its seven fields, the future of transportation, the future of cybersecurity, the future of narcotics and rehabilitation, the future of penal and correctional institutions and rehabilitation of inmates, the future of outsourcing or privatising government services, and future crimes Unconventional, and the future of work systems, confirms the success of the Sharjah Police in its bet on security knowledge and deepening the role of scientific research in enhancing security alongside fieldwork, so that the two sides integrate knowledge and field, realizing that the applied quality of ideas is the basis for solid construction.
The award included two categories: the category of future foresight institutions, research centers, and universities inside and outside the country, and the category of researchers, experts, and students of educational institutions for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and members of the police and security teams to provide studies and solutions to future challenges according to the 7 primary areas.
At the end of the ceremony, Al Shamsi, presented a commemorative shield to Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi.
