SPSA raises awareness of workers on occupational safety

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority (SPSA) celebrated the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, held every April 28, and the International Workers’ Day, held every first of May.
The celebration was organised in coordination with the Labour Standards Development Authority in Al Sajaa Labour Park. 

The event aims to enhance the role and efforts of workers in the field of urban and services development and renaissance, and to maintain the safety and health of workers at work.

SPSA participation was through providing a range of educational activities and services that contribute to raising awareness. The activities included specialised training programmes on occupational safety and health in several languages by trainers specialised in the field. Workshops also included procedures to be followed at workplace, emergency response plan, and first aid.

SPSA participated through “Salamatk Bus Initiative”, one of the Authority's initiatives to reach groups that find it difficult to leave their workplaces. The initiative showed a number of educational documentaries, in different languages.
 
His Excellency Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority (SPSA), affirmed that workers’ safety and health is a top priority for Sharjah government, and on the occasion of the International Workers' Day and World Day for Safety and Health at Work, His Excellency called on all entities registered in the electronic programme to apply the necessary requirements, according to their classification in the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System.
