Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) has successfully completed the first phase of its initiative to install energy-saving devices and tools in households for free, as directed by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The authority allocated AED 20 million to equip homes with modern, energy-efficient technologies based on consumption studies, the first phase targeting the installation of 3,916 water-saving devices in various areas throughout the emirate. During the first phase, a total of 20,206 water-saving devices were installed in 147 areas across Sharjah's cities, and the necessary tools and devices were identified for electricity consumption reduction in 2,900 households, which will be installed during the initiative's second phase.
Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chairman of SEWA, emphasised the authority's commitment to raising awareness of optimal energy and water usage and implementing best practices in energy consumption reduction to lower waste rates, preserve the environment, and reduce bill values. He clarified that the directives His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to allocate AED 20 million for this purpose are part of his commitment to developing awareness and launching initiatives aimed at preserving the environment, raising awareness of vital issues, and solidifying Sharjah's leading cultural position.

He highlighted the ever-increasing demand for electricity and water, necessitating significant annual investments to keep up with the consumption growth. Efficient consumption and demand management are crucial to optimise resource utilisation, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
