SEWA organises GIS DAY with participation of leading companies

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) organised a SEWA GIS DAY at the Centro Sharjah Hotel, with the aim of enhancing effective communication between the authority’s departments and users of the system and activating cooperation with leading companies in this field that provide the “geographic information systems” currently used in the authority.
SEWA’s use of GIS is part of its strategy to continue to develop and improve and work with partners to achieve the goals and develop the services provided by the Authority to the residents of all regions in the Emirate of Sharjah.

During the opening speech, Engineer Fatima Ali Asghar, Acting Director of the Information and Communication Technology Department, reviewed a number of topics related to geographic information systems and the technology used in the Authority, and gave a presentation of the achievements and services of SEWA’s GIS Department, and the areas in which GIS was employed in the various technical departments of the Authority.

At the meeting, GISTEC and Esri companies demonstrated their state-of-the-art technology in the field of geographic information systems, and gave presentations of advanced technical solutions and areas of their uses and proposals, as well as a proposal for the development plan for the current system used by the authority.

Majid Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Institutional Support Services, concluded the activities of the Geographic Information Systems Day by thanking the participants and praising what was presented, stressing the need to benefit from the expertise and information of the participating entities, exchange experiences, use the latest technologies, keep pace with technological development, and work on continuous development and improvement of services.
