Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) team clinched the 25th edition of the football tournament for government departments in Sharjah, organized by the Sharjah Government Employees Club in collaboration with Al Thiqah Club for Disabled, under the auspices of the Sharjah Sports Council. They emerged victorious in the final match of the tournament against the General Command of Sharjah Police, scoring five goals to their opponents' four.
The match and the award ceremony were graced by the presence of Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, along with Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, Chairman of the Sharjah Chess Cultural Club, and Hamid Ali Al Abbar, Member of the Federal National Council and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club. The management boards of the Sharjah Sports Council, the Sharjah Government Employees Club, Al Thiqah Club for Disabled, and representatives of the participating government departments also attended the event.
Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, emphasised that the championship's success was the result of cooperation between Al Thiqah Club for Disabled and the Sharjah Government Employees Club, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to enhance collaboration among all government entities in Sharjah. He praised the championship's significant achievements, which embody noble societal objectives, such as the spirit of sportsmanship that prevailed among the Sharjah government employees, who participated in friendly matches outside official working hours.
Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi praised the Executive Committee of the Government Employees Club for organising such a championship and achieving great success with the participation of a large number of teams. He also emphasised that the Government Employees Club in Sharjah is a cultural destination for the emirate due to its noble goals of promoting sports across all sectors of society.
Meanwhile, Issa Hilal Al Hazami congratulated the players of the Council team on winning the championship for government entities in futsal, in the final match against the General Command of Sharjah Police.
Furthermore, Sharjah Airport Authority won third place in the championship after defeating Al Hamriyah Municipality in the match for third place.
The tournament's organising committee selected Nofel Al Taie from the General Command of Sharjah Police as the best player of the tournament, while Anderson Gustavo from Sharjah International Airport Authority won the title of top scorer, and Mayed Al Muaini from Sharjah Sports Council was awarded the best goalkeeper prize.
