Sharjah 24: The Branches Department of the Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (SDPW) in Dibba Al Hisn organised a celebration on the occasion of the Emirati’s Children Day, which falls on the fifteenth of March of each year.
It included a number of events and tours of the SDPW's projects, with the aim of shedding light on the projects carried out by the SDPW, especially those related to children's buildings, in order to raise their awareness and promote engineering work in a way that contributes to enhancing their ability to create and innovate.
Tahani Al Dhaheri, a public relations official from the Dibba Al Hisn branch of SDPW, confirmed that the UAE has given children the bulk of care and attention, by launching many supportive initiatives, and that the SDPW is building many buildings that target children, especially since the Emirate of Sharjah is a child-friendly city.
The initiative was also keen to prepare a generation to follow the sustainable development process, as all the engineers of the SDPW accompanied the participating children to visit the most prominent projects implemented by the SDPW and introduced them to the importance of sustainability in the implementation of projects. They were also involved in a number of technical workshops, competitions and exhibition boards.
She indicated that the SDPW takes care of the children through several projects that target them through a number of various garden projects.
The SDPW also published an annual periodical, titled “The Engineer of the Future,” which aims to teach children, in a beautiful educational manner, the principles of engineering.
