The Director General of (SCHS) has called on the local community and its organisations for help with the annual (since 1989) "Zakat Campaign," launched by the city during the holy month of Ramadan under the motto "Your Zakat for Our Education."
This year's effort seeks to raise eleven million dirhams to cover the costs of education for 479 male and female pupils with disabilities who qualify for zakat funds as per Islamic regulations.
She went on to say that the city has made accommodating people with disabilities a central part of its approach, mission, and vision since its founding 44 years ago, and that it has been keen to educate the people of society about these issues, enticing them for support and appropriate assistance in all areas, as well as zakat contributions to ensure that the city's educational services remain at the forefront of mainstream practices and standards.
She stated that during the academic year 2022-2023, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services provided students of various nationalities and disabilities with educational, rehabilitation, and training programmes based on the best and most recent practices from around the world. This benefited 1,647 individuals with disabilities.
The Director General of SCHS thanked the Sharjah government and the Zakat campaign's funders, donors, and collaborators on behalf of the city.
