Sharjah24: The activities of the 11th edition of the Chess Tournament for Government Agencies, Institutions and Departments (CTGAID), organised by the Sharjah Government Employees Club, in cooperation with the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council, were launched, with the participation of 52 male and female players from 25 government agencies and institutions in Sharjah.
The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, Vice President of the International Chess Federation, President of the Arab Federation and President of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, and His Excellency Humaid Ali Alabbar, Vice President of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, His Excellency Jamal Issa Al Midfa, Secretary General of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, and a number of members of the boards of directors of the Sharjah Government Employees Club and the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club.
His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, confirmed that the Tournament's successes in previous editions attracted many players from all government institutions in the emirate, pointing out that the sports and cultural programs and events organised by the Sharjah Government Employees Club aim to develop the spirit of fair competition amidst a family atmosphere.
On the other hand, Raja'i Al Sousi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, has highlighted the club's keenness to spread the game throughout the emirate by organising and hosting various competitions, stressing that such sports events and forums are a good opportunity for Sharjah government employees to practise the chess game.
