The authority performed maintenance works for 8,643 11kV substations and 880 sub-distribution boards. In addition, it carried out general maintenance works for 382 sites within the framework of the authority's keenness to provide the best services to the residents of the emirate and facilitate them.
Dr. Eng. Hassan Al Zarouni, Director of the Electricity Distribution Department, indicated that the mechanism for connecting electricity to the facilities begins with the submission by the electrical contractor of a request to connect the electricity service in the Shared Services Department, after completing 80% of the project completion stage. After that, the application is transferred to the competent authority at the authority to study the project, by determining the likely feeding point to supply the facility with electricity, and carrying out a field visit by a specialized engineer to inspect the site in order to make a final report on the facility’s needs of materials (meter - size and length of the cable), which is determined based on the required load.
He added that the request is automatically transferred after opening the connection request in the Shared Services Department to the Inspection Section in the Electricity Distribution Department. A date for the site inspection is set to ensure the integrity of the electrical connections and their conformity with the specifications and requirements of the authority. The examination certificate is delivered after passing the electricity examination, which authorizes the project owner to obtain a certificate. Connecting services from the municipality, after making sure that the fees, which include connection fees and materials, are collected, the meter is installed, and the cable is extended and connected to the main point until a service delivery and completion certificate are obtained from the municipality, and after bringing the certificate, the electricity service for the project is operated.
